Stardew Valley’s sixth major update significantly expanded the cosy game when it was released on PC in March, adding new farm types and support for up to eight players.
But console and mobile players missed out on the release, with developer Eric Barone (who goes by the moniker ConcernedApe) promising he was working hard to bring it to more platforms.
Now, after a six-month wait, we have a release date: Stardew Valley’s console and mobile 1.6 update lands on November 4.
ConcernedApe revealed the date on X, where he also confirmed that this is when it will launch on the Nintendo Switch.
Stardew Valley has sold more than 30 million copies since its release in 2016, making it one of the most successful indie games of all time. It also single-handedly helped to popularise a sub-genre known as cosy games, thanks to its unrushed gameplay and charming activities.
The goal is to revitalise a rundown farm by growing crops, raising animals, fishing, mining, and foraging, while interacting with the citizens of Pelican Town.

Early in the game, players are also faced with a huge dilemma that will shape their story: they can either help to rebuild the local community centre or purchase a membership for the Joja Mart corporation. It’s a bit like choosing between the local farmers’ market or Amazon, both have their perks and conveniences but one makes you feel a bit dirtier than the other.
The Stardew Valley 1.6 update brought with it several major features, including the new Meadowlands Farm layout, perfect for players who enjoy animal raising and fishing.
New festivals, like the Desert Festival and fishing events, added seasonal variety to the festivities. And, expanded multiplayer support doubled the amount of online players from four to eight.
Additionally, the update introduced a mastery system, offering players skill-based perks and items, and more than 100 new NPC dialogues, deepening the social interactions in the game.
