Red Nose day is generally accompanied by a telethon that will "tackle important issues including homelessness, hunger, domestic abuse and mental health stigma".

All the issues Comic Relief discusses has been made worse by the coronavirus pandemic, which makes this year's fundraiser more important than some previous years.

While this year's celebrity lineup has not been announced yet, viewers should expect at least one big-name celeb to take on a grand challenge in order to raise money for the campaign.

Other notable celebrity challenges include politician Ed Balls among others take on the infamous Kilimanjaro challenge in 2019 which included a 19,000ft climb up the traitorous.

Red Nose Day started in 1988 after comedian and co-founder Lenny Henry visited Ethiopa to conduct the first Red Nose Day telethon - he raised over £15 million with over 30 million viewers.
