When is Mortal Kombat 2 on streaming? It's a question that a lot of people will be asking about the new beat 'em up flick as it punches and kicks its way into cinemas this week. But perhaps you'd prefer to experience the film from the comfort of your home, instead. If that's the case, then read on for some speculation about when and where we think it will be available.
Yes, speculation. As the film has not yet been released into cinemas, we don't currently have any concrete information on when it will be streaming. Still, from looking at data from past releases, we can make a fairly solid educated guess. We'll update this page as more information becomes available.
Mortal Kombat 2 streaming release date speculation

Mortal Kombat 2 sees Earth's greatest champions, including Johnny Cage (The Boys' Karl Urban) pulled into battle against the evil Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) for the fate of the world. The new film also features the return of characters from the first movie, including Jessica McNamee's Sonya Blade and Josh Lawson's Kano. The Mortal Kombat 2 first reactions have suggested that the film will dial up the fan service and deliver some exciting action set pieces.
For the time being, the only place that you will be able to watch Mortal Kombat 2 is in your local cinema. After that, it will be released to rent and buy digitally at a premium price. Looking back at previous films in a franchise is usually the best way to speculate when a sequel might make the jump to home release. The first Mortal Kombat, however, was released during the pandemic and had an atypical release because of that.
Looking to a couple of other recent releases from Warner Bros. Pictures, is helpful here. "Wuthering Heights" was released in cinemas on February 13, 2026, and made available to rent and buy on March 31, 2026. The Bride!, meanwhile, was released on March 6, and made available to rent and buy on April 7, 2026.
That suggests that the Mortal Kombat digital rent and purchase date will be somewhere around four-to-six weeks after its theatrical release, perhaps around June 9, 2026.
But it's the HBO Max streaming date you're really here for... Looking again at "Wuthering Heights," that was released on streaming on May 1, 2026, 77 days after its theatrical release. Before that, One Battle After Another took 79 days from its theatrical release to arriving on HBO Max. With that in mind, we expect that Mortal Kombat 2 may be streaming on HBO Max on July 24, 2026.
