Leigh Wood fights in front of a home crowd tomorrow night when he takes on a very dangerous opponent, with Mauricio Lara travelling to the Nottingham Arena for a huge fight night under the lights.
It has been almost 12 months since Wood last fought, with a win at the Motorpoint Arena against Michael Conlan last March for a successful first defence of his WBA featherweight title. With a record of 26-2-0, Wood is well matched against Lara who has a record of 28-2-1.
The fight in Nottingham will have parallels with Lara's last fight in the UK, with the 24-year-old making his way across the Atlantic to face an opponent who will be backed by a fervent home crowd. In 2021, Lara beat Josh Warrington in London before they faced a rematch in Leeds which was drawn after Lara suffered an early cut to the head.
