When is 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2' coming to streaming? Here's our best guess

Toy Freddy in "Five Nights at Freddy’s 2" movie (2025).

The animatronic horrors of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” have terrified players for years, and the franchise’s popularity isn't waning. What started as a humble indie horror-survival game from creator Scott Cawthon has become a full-blown cultural phenomenon. When the first "FNAF" movie hit theaters (and streaming) in 2023, the adaptation turned out to be a massive win. “Five Nights at Freddy’s” pulled in roughly $290 million worldwide, proving that the creepy animatronics had real drawing power far beyond the original gaming community.

Now, the sequel “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” has arrived in theaters. Having watched it myself, I can’t deny that I was disappointed. Hardcore game fans will probably appreciate the numerous references sprinkled throughout, but for me, cramming in Easter eggs shouldn’t come at the expense of good storytelling, character arcs, and compelling performances. It’s a total mess, but judging by its early box office numbers, it’s already off to a strong start.

So, when can you expect “FNAF 2” to land on streaming platforms? As of now, there is no confirmed streaming date for "Five Nights at Freddy's 2," but looking at Universal’s streaming release patterns, we can make an educated guess at when this movie will be available to stream at home.

When will ‘FNAF 2’ be available to stream?

Right now, the only way to experience “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” is in theaters. But if you’re waiting to watch it from your couch, the rollout is familiar: digital rental and purchase first, followed by a streaming debut.

It’s important to note that the first “FNAF” movie was released in theaters and on Peacock at the same time, meaning fans could stream it from day one. That isn't the case this time around: the new sequel has been released in theaters first, with a streaming release likely coming after a PVOD debut.

Looking at Universal’s recent release strategy, the studio tends to give its movies at least a 35-day theatrical window before rolling them out on streaming. However, the time it takes to hit streaming typically depends on the movie’s box office performance. “FNAF 2” has already made over $100 million worldwide, and thanks to those strong numbers, it might stay in theaters a little longer than initially expected.

For example, “Wicked” hit theaters on November 22, 2024, but its digital (PVOD) release didn’t arrive until December 31 of that year. Similarly, “Jurassic World Rebirth” premiered on July 2, 2025, before getting a PVOD release on August 5. Given that pattern, I predict “FNAF 2” could hit digital platforms like Amazon, Apple TV and Google Play on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Keep in mind this is just speculation, and nothing has been confirmed.

“FNAF 2” will most likely arrive on digital rental and purchase services such as Amazon and Apple TV in early January (remember that timeframe is speculative). Peacock streaming will presumably follow a few weeks later.

Based on the previous pattern, both “Wicked” and “Jurassic World Rebirth” landed on Peacock four months after their theatrical release. If the same pattern holds, a streaming debut for “FNAF 2” could potentially land on Thursday, April 3, 2026. Again, this hasn’t been confirmed and is a rough guess based on previous Universal movies.

Remember, the exact streaming date for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” could change depending on how well the movie performs in theaters and on PVOD. If it posts strong box office and digital sales in the coming weeks, Universal may choose to keep it on the big screen or on premium rental platforms a bit longer before releasing it on Peacock.
