As Christmas is just around the corner, it’s finally time to star watching those classic Christmas films to get you well and truly in the spirit. For many, one of the highlights of the season is 2003 comedy Elf.
Since its release, the film has become a cinematic staple of the yuletide season, as families up and down the country join Buddy the Elf in this brilliant fish-out-of-water comedy. Starring Will Ferrell, James Caan and Zooey Deschanel, Elf follows the naïve, oversized elf Buddy, a human raised by elves in the North Pole, as he journeys to New York City to find his long-lost biological father.
When he arrives, he finds his father is in dire need of some Christmas spirit, so it’s up to Buddy to spread some festive cheer and get his dad off the naughty list. The film was a huge success on its release, raking in almost 10 times its budget at the box office.
