How to Save a Life — Saturday 15 July 2023 at 8.25pm on BBC One: 

This episode of Casualty is something special — a standalone episode commemorating 75 Years of the NHS. Whether you're a fan of the medical drama, haven't watched in years, or (gasp!) have never tuned in, this is must-see TV.

The story follows the fate of road traffic accident victim, Amartya, from the first call to 999 reporting his critical condition, to the quick reactions of the paramedics on the scene, his transfer to the ED, and life or death surgeries. 

It's a chain-of-events piece demonstrating how many people are involved in caring for someone dangerously hurt, amid the trials and tribulations the emergency services face daily. 

Shot in a fly-on-the-wall documentary style How to Save a Life includes contributions from real life medics from various fields discussing their profession. A first in Casualty's 36 year history.

Hooke's Law — Saturday 22 July 2023 at 8.25pm on BBC One:

Prior to the stand-alone episode, Casualty viewers were left with MANY questions that need answering after the credits rolled on Burning Bridges.

Is clinical lead Max Cristie back at work? How are confused couple Iain Dean and Faith Cadogan navigating her addiction? Is Ryan Firth feeling the fall out, having been revealed as the source of the rumours regarding Max and Jodie Whyte? And following THAT kiss, what's going on between Paige Allcott and Sah Brockner? Is anyone going to tell Teddy Gowan his girlfriend and bessie mate shared a passionate smooch?

Dog Days — Saturday 05 August 2023 at 8.25pm on BBC One: 

At last — Max Cristie returns to Holby ED. But the clinical lead is keeping a shocking secret, which may have major repercussions for both himself and his daughter Jodie Whyte...  There's a lot of emotional baggage to unpack and nowhere to store it!

Elsewhere, Paige Allcott also has an emotional shift and her attempts to use work as a distraction only get her so far. Is it time to face her feelings?

One Hundred Years

The second episode, One Hundred Years, airs straight afterwards at 9.20pm and sees time running out for Faith Cadogan. Best friend Stevie Nash is keeping tabs, as Faith implodes...

Elsewhere, Teddy struggles with conflicting feelings, leading to an impulsive decision. And nurse Jodie Whyte has an unexpected family reunion — to the dismay of her father, Max!

Hard Pill — Saturday 09 September at 8.10pm on BBC One:

It's a tough shift for Jan Jenning, Faith Cadogan, Donna Jackson and Max Cristie for very different reasons in this tense and emotional episode of Casualty. 

Jan agrees to help her ex Gethin West with his final request. But, as they're preparing to leave for Switzerland, the paramedic boss discloses her plans to friend and co-worker Iain Dean. Stunned, Iain can't believe that she's risking everything and warns Jan that her decision could have irreversible consequences for the rest of her life.

Elsewhere, Faith Cadogan's secrets and lies slip out of her control, with a devastating fallout for the drug addicted nurse.

Casualty double bill — Saturday 16 September 2023 from 8.20pm on BBC One:

Too Much Too Young 

The first visit to Holby airs at 8.20pm with Too Much Too Young and to call it tense is an understatement!

It's a day of reckoning for Donna Jackson, who comes to a painful realisation as her sentencing looms. As we've seen in recent weeks, the nurse manager continues to try and distract herself with work (and, no doubt, a certain someone she works with). But she's forced to face reality when daughters, Mia Barron and Amber Baptiste, confront her and ask what will happen to them if she gets a prison sentence. Elsewhere, Stevie Nash tries and fails to help a friend in need, and Jodie Whyte learns more about Max Cristie's ill health. 

Switzerland

The second episode, Switzerland, airs at 9.10pm and follows Jan Jenning and Gethin West. 

As they arrive in Switzerland and prepare to explore Gethin's end of life plan, Jan wants to make the most of the time they have together and create some happy memories. She fusses over Gethin and plans a day trip for them, all the while ignoring messages from worried nephew Teddy Gowan. 

After Gethin organises a picnic for them the couple realise that, despite their differences and painful past, they can still make each other laugh. Will their plans change?
