The artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, maker of the hugely popular Claude AI models, filed for an initial public offering (IPO) on Monday. The company is reportedly aiming to go public by the end of November.
The company plans to list on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol ANT and reports suggest the IPO could value Anthropic at between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion. The filing has also brought attention to an unusual plan by its seven co-founders. They have pledged to give away 80% of their personal stakes in the company to charity which is nearly $80 billion, based on Anthropic's latest private funding valuation. However, the founders could continue to control most shareholder voting decisions even after giving away much of their wealth.
