When is Andy Murray's Wimbledon match back on? British tennis hero leads 2-1 as play stopped

Andy Murray provided some late night drama for BBC viewers on Thursday and he'll be back in action at Wimbledon on Friday, after his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas was halted, with Murray two sets to one up.

Whenever Murray takes to the grass at Wimbledon, interest is always huge and, as well as every seat at Centre Court being taken for his clash against the number fifth seed, Henman Hill was also packed, as millions tuned in at home to catch the thrilling game. All other programming on BBC One was shifted around as the channel prioritised Murray v Tsitsipas.

Hours after Britain's Liam Broady saw off number 4 seed Casper Rudd, Murray got his second round tie going just after 8pm and, after a closely fought first set, his opponent ended up taking a 1-0 lead, following a win in the crunch tie break.

The second set followed a very similar pattern, except this time it was Murray that claimed the tie break spoils to level things up. A break in the third proved crucial for Murray and, even a late injury scare, when he screamed in agony and fell to the ground, couldn't stop him from taking a 2-1 lead as he served for the set.

There were some boos around Centre, when, at around 10.40pm, it was announced that play had ended for the night, leaving tennis fans to worry just when they'd see Murray try and secure a third round spot.

When is Andy Murray back on Wimbledon?

Andy Murray is second on Centre on Friday, with play expected to resume after 3pm.

On Thursday evening, the BBC commentary team had some discussion about when Murray v Tsitsipas was likely to be back on Centre Court on Friday, with John McEnroe speculating it could be pushed back to third in the schedule, given the late finish on Thursday.

However, as she wrapped up the coverage for the night, Clare Balding suggested that it was likely to be second up and the presenter proved to be spot on.
