When do United States play in their first Women’s World Cup match?

This year’s Women’s World Cup is being hosted by New Zealand and Australia — and will be the biggest women’s football tournament yet, with the competition expanded from 24 to 32 teams.

The opening match will be contested between New Zealand and Norway at Eden Park, Auckland, on July 20.

The final will take place on August 20, at Sydney Olympic Stadium in Australia.

But when are the USWNT team playing? Here’s what you need to know.

When does the US play in their first Women’s World Cup match?

United Stadium are the current world champions, and find themselves in Group E along with the Netherlands, Portugal, and Vietnam.

Contrastingly, European champions England are in Group D, alongside China, Denmark, and Haiti.

The US will play their first World Cup match this Saturday, July 22.

The country will be playing against Vietnam, and it’s expected that the US will win.

Who is the manager of the US women’s football team?

Vlatko Andonovski was named US manager in 2019, after the departure of World Cup-winning coach Jill Ellis.

As manager of the US, Andonovski has won an Olympic Bronze medal, four SheBelieves Cups, and the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Championship.

He has selected 23 players for the World Cup squad.
