Newcastle United are facing a race against the clock to strengthen Eddie Howe's squad ahead of the January transfer window deadline.

Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood have already arrived at St James' Park, but the club's new owners are keen to secure further deals to aid the team's battle for Premier League survival.

Howe has hinted a third signing is 'close' with a deal for Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes expected to be announced in the coming days.
