- The clocks are set to go back by an hour on Sunday, 25 October at 2am, giving Britons additional time in bed. But what does this actually mean?
- There are two different ‘times’ in the UK : British Summer Time (BST) and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
- British Summer Time refers to the period in which clocks are one hour ahead, meaning there’s “more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings”, according to Gov UK .
- When the clocks go back on the final Sunday in October, however, the UK reverts to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
- In 2027, the clocks will go forward on 28 March, whereas they won’t go back until 31 October.
