Since the start of winter last year, millions of households across the country have benefited from the £400 energy bill discount.
The payments from the energy bill support scheme was split into six monthly instalments of £66 or £67. However, the payments will soon come to an end which may put many households' finances in an uncertain situation.
This is compounded by the looming rising cost of energy bills which will come into effect from April when the government's energy price guarantee - which has prevented many households from being charged more on their energy bills - will become less generous and more targeted.

Households previously benefited from the energy bill support scheme via automatic payments if bills were paid via direct debit or credit. However, those who had traditional pre-payment meters were provided a special voucher every month which could be used at top-up shops.
When will the energy bill support scheme end?
The government plans to end its energy bill support on Friday, March 31. There will be one more discount handed out to households in March but no more will be handed out once April starts.
However, the end of the scheme does not mean a complete end to government support. Instead, additional support from the government will become more targeted via the Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Fund.
This scheme will reportedly target around 900,000 households across the country and will provide a one-off payment of £400. Not everyone will be eligible for the alternative scheme and unlike the previous one, you will have to apply if you're eligible.
