England secured their place in the World Cup round-of-16 this evening after beating Wales 3-0 at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
The Three Lions kept hold of top spot in Group B, ending the group with seven points thanks to three second-half goals. Marcus Rashford thumped home a brilliant free-kick on 50 minutes, and when England pressed from the resultant Wales kick-off, Harry Kane's low cross was met by Phil Foden to make it two within a minute. Manchester United winger Rashford slotted home again with 20 minutes to spare, topping off a brilliant performance from the forward.
Victory guaranteed England's place at the top of the group regardless of the result at the Al Thumama Stadium - a game which saw the USA grab second-place with a 1-0 win against Iran. It also confirmed the Three Lions' round-of-16 opponents and potential route to the final, should they go all the way.
