Chelsea have been one of the major victims in seeing their fixture schedule being disrupted ahead and even after the international break.
The world was rocked by the news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle in the latter parts of last week. After a meeting with all Premier League clubs, the general consensus was listened to as most teams opted for a full cancellation of fixtures. This meant that the Fulham vs Chelsea London derby was called off, alongside every other fixture, Thankfully, from a Chelsea Supporters' perspective, UEFA didn't take the same action as the English top flight who wanted to pay their respects with a no-football policy over the weekend during the national morning period, was not reciprocated in Europe.
Consequently, Graham Potter's Chelsea debut came in the 1-1 draw with RB Salzburg. Super Sunday was set to be a special one between Chelsea and Liverpool but just like Man United vs Leeds which is a category 1 fixture for policing requirements, both were called off due to a large proportion of the Police forces from around the country being set for their biggest operation in recent history with the upcoming state funeral on Monday.
