Spring has officially sprung and with the long Easter weekend done and dusted many people will be turning their attention to the next bank holiday dates in the UK. In Wales and England there are usually two bank holidays in May.
These include the Early May bank holiday at the beginning of the month and the Spring bank holiday that falls at the end of May. However, this year there will be an extra date to mark the King's coronation.
The extra bank holiday that was proclaimed by the Prime Minister at the end of last year. Downing Street said the holiday would fall two days after the coronation at Westminster Abbey, and would apply across the UK.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said it would be an opportunity for families and communities to come together to celebrate, just as the country did for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. It means there are now three bank holiday dates in May 2023.
When are the bank holidays in May 2023?
In Wales and England the next bank holiday is the Early May bank holiday on Monday, May 1. Just one week later is the Bank Holiday for the coronation of King Charles III on Monday, May 8.
The Spring bank holiday will fall on Monday, May 29. For ease you can find a list of the dates below:

When are the rest of the bank holidays for 2023?
Following the three bank holidays in May there are just three left this year, including the summer bank holiday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Tuesday, December 26 - Boxing Day
