The dust has only just settled on the domestic campaign but before you know it the 2022-23 season will be here.
Due to the World Cup being staged across November and December in Qatar, the knock-on effect is a slightly earlier start to next season than normal.
The EFL will kick off across the weekend of July 30 and 31 - although it is highly likely a curtain-raiser in the Championship will take place on Friday, July 29 for live TV coverage on Sky Sports . The final round of the regular campaign in all three divisions is set for the weekend of Saturday, May 6.
Play-off finals are scheduled to be played on successive days at Wembley, between May 27 and 29. Here is all you need to know surrounding the EFL fixture release day.
When are the EFL fixtures released?
Despite the EFL season beginning a week earlier than the Premier League (August 6), fans of all 72 clubs will have to wait slightly longer to map out their schedules for the coming campaign.
The Premier League fixtures are set to be released on Thursday, June 16 at 9am.
The EFL fixtures will be released exactly one week later, on Thursday, June 23 at 9am.
Will the World Cup cause disruption to schedules?
For the Premier League and Championship, yes. The final round of fixtures before the World Cup will end on November 13.
Championship fixtures will resume on December 10 whilst Leagues One and Two will remain unaffected and will continue as normal throughout the tournament.
In addition, the EFL have also confirmed the fourth round of the Carabao Cup is scheduled for the week between the World Cup final (December 18) and the Premier League's resumption on Boxing Day.
