When and where is this summer's Euro 2024?

England are gearing up to take on the giants of football as the countdown to this summer's European Championship continues.

There are four months to go until Gareth Southgate’s side jet out to Germany, the host nation, in the hope of finally bagging a major trophy for the first time since 1966. England will face Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia in their group this summer, and fans are hopeful this could be the year football finally does come home.

Here is all we know about the tournament and how it will work.

When is Euro 2024? 

Euro 2024 is scheduled to take place from June 14 and will last a month with the final on Sunday, July 14.

Germany are seeded in Group A and will play the opening game against Scotland in Munich on Friday, June 14.

What are the groups for Euro 2024?

The groups’ draw was done at the start of December and are as follows.

Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland 

Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania

Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England 

Group D: Play off winner A, Netherlands, Austria, France 

Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Play off winner B

Group F: Turkey, Play off winner C, Portugal, Czechia

The final spots will be decided in play-off games to be held at the end of March. Details here. 

The top two in each of the six final tournament groups will then proceed to the round of 16 along with the four best third-placed finishers.

Where will the games be held?

All the matches will take place around Germany and fans may have to travel to 10 different grounds.

The grounds are the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Cologne Stadium, Dortmund Stadium, Dusseldorf Arena, Frankfurt Arena, Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Volksparkstadion Hamburg in Hamburg, Leipzig Stadium, Munich Football Arena and Stuttgart Arena.

The tournament starts in Munich and the final is at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Sunday July 14.

When are England playing?

England start their campaign on Sunday, June 16 against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen then play again on June 20 against Denmark in Frankfurt.

Fans will then travel to Cologne on June 25 where the team take on Slovenia before the next round begins on June 27.
