When a 25-year-old woman went into labour aboard a train to Patna, railway officials sprang into action; baby boy born inside Ahmedabad-Barauni Express

A 25-year-old woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy aboard the Ahmedabad-Barauni Express at Bihar’s Buxar railway station on Sunday after going into labour while travelling home for Durga Puja, according to a PTI report. The woman, Lalita Devi, was travelling with her husband, Dinesh Kumar, in the train’s S-2 coach when she developed labour pain. The couple were returning to their home in Danapur, Patna, to celebrate the festival. Kumar works at a textile factory in Surat. Railway authorities were alerted to Lalita Devi’s condition after the train left Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (DDU). Buxar station manager Rajat Saxena promptly arranged medical assistance.

When train number 19483 reached Buxar at around 11 am, railway doctor Hariom Pathak and his team rushed to the S-2 coach to attend to the woman.
