Wheel of Fortune contestant's blunder on easy puzzle costs her a staggering $1 million

A Wheel of Fortune contestant collapsed on the table in dismay after missing out on a whooping $1 million.

Micki, from Louisiana, was just three letters away from claiming the mega cash prize and a luxury holiday to Croatia.

A contestant can compete to win a million in the bonus round if they land on the $1 million wedge during regular gameplay, solve the puzzle and win the game.

And viewers at home were convinced she would easily scoop the rewards after seeing the puzzle on the board, which was under the category 'Thing'.

It spelled out: "A ROARING FIRE IN THE FIRE _ _ A _ E."

Host Pat Sajak instructed her to pick another letter, but to the dismay of the studio audience she asked for an 'S' to go on the board.

When the incorrect-answer buzzer was sounded, the audience let out an audible groan and a defeated Micki collapsed on the desk in horror.

"You got the reaction. No 'S', I'm sorry," said Sajak, who was in disbelief himself.

Wheel of Fortune fans were quick to slam Micki for the mistake on Twitter, with one outraged viewers writing: "Getting angry at Wheel of Fortune. Just another Friday night."

While game show fan decided to create a poll for which recent Wheel of Fortune player made the worst mistake during the last few episodes.

There have been a few Wheel of Fortune blunders in recent weeks, including contestants who had an epic fail.

Laura and Christopher struggled to work out the classic phrase "another feather in your cap".

Confused Chris started guessing the letters 'D' and 'G', while Laura asked whether the word at the end was 'lap', 'map' or 'hat'.

Viewers were also left giggling when a different contestant one couldn't figure out a relatively easy Jurassic Park phrase.

During a 'showbiz' category puzzle, the phrase 'Jurassic Park movies' came up, but one woman ended up guessing 'Jurassic Park bodies' instead.

And host Pat took a swipe at a devastated contestant who missed out big on a "tough" final round last month.

Octavia sadly missed out on the final puzzle after being given the letters "T R E," which were "widespread" across the board, leaving her to add three consonants and a vowel.

Pat also selected "S L N" but didn't yet place them on the board, she picked consonant letters "D, B, H" and the letter "A" for her vowel.

After co-host Vanna White had placed Octavia's letter on the board, it left significant gaps, making things even harder for the contestant who had to work out the phrase.

"No," she admitted after coming to terms with the fact she might not know the answer.

As the tense timer continued to tick, getting increasingly close to buzzing, in a bid to lend some encouragement, host Pat chimed in: "You can do this."

"Talk it out, you have ten seconds...good luck," Pat shouted – before the timer came to an end and Octavia failed to identify the correct phrase, "Autographed Copy".

Despite admitting it was a "tough one", Pat threw shade at Octavia, saying: "I thought you might be able to come up with autograph...wasn't gonna happen, was it?"
