Messaging app WhatsApp is planning a major update for all group chats that will possibly be rolled out over the coming months.
The platform, which has over two billion users, may soon be allowing people to connect like never before by allowing users to merge their group chats into one 'mega-chat'.
The new bigger chats, which will be named 'WhatsApp communities', were first spotted by WABetInfo in November.
It wrote: "Thanks to WhatsApp Communities, you can bring your groups together, so it's easy to manage and access them."
The feature will also allow users to message all members of their various group chats by sending messages to your community.
The new feature hopes to allow people to organise events, plan nights out and hold discussions with ease and let people manage all their groups on a dashboard.
The screengrab shared by WABetaInfo shows an introductory screen that presumably pops up when you access Communities for the first time.
A message on the screen describes it as a tool to "add the groups you manage to one place for easy access".
It adds that Communities allows you to "send announcements to all members and keep them updated".
WABetaInfo said that the feature is currently in development and a release date is currently unknown.
When releasing new features, WhatsApp tests new tools and settings within small groups as part of "beta" tests before it decides on rolling it out.
Some websites, such as WABetaInfo, are members of WhatsApp's fabled beta programme and promptly share whatever they find.
This allows sites such as WABetaInfo to release information on new updates to fans before they even come to pass.
However, just because the feature is released through the site does not mean it will make it to general release.
Last week WhatsApp also released another new beta feature for Android and iPhone users.
The new feature can be found in the WhatsApp app itself and will provide a support tool for the chat app.
To access this support feature, you will simply have to head to Settings > Help > Contact Us if you want help with any issues you encounter in WhatsApp.
This will put you directly in touch with a member of the WhatsApp support team who will be able to help you with your question, after which the chat session will be closed.
