WhatsApp is down with users unable to send or receive messages

WhatsApp is down this morning with people unable to send or receive messages.

Thousands of users of the Meta-owned instant messaging app have reported problems on social media. The app appears to say 'connecting' when trying to send a message.

According to the service status website Down Detector, users began reporting issues with WhatsApp just before 8am on Tuesday morning, with more than 12,000 reports posted by 8.30am.
