The competition to be crowned the 2022 Great British Bake Off champion continues tonight, with the remaining home bakers taking on another brand new theme. The series has now reached the halfway mark, and the competition is heating up as the contestants head into week six eager to keep their place in the tent.
In last week's episode, the bakers were tasked with desserts and needed to create eight steamed puddings, a lemon meringue pie and a sponge with a surprise in the showstopper. Unfortunately it was 59-year-old Carole from Dorset, who became the latest contestant to leave the tent and in her goodbye letter said she felt "very humbled and privileged" to be part of the 2022 series.
Meanwhile 30-year-old Sandro was crowned star baker after impressing judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. But what themed bakes will the contestants be challenged with this week? Here are all the details:
What week is it on The Great British Bake Off?
It's another Bake Off first this week as the remaining contestants take part in 'Halloween week'. The episode will air on Tuesday, October 18 from 8pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
This time, the home bakers will be tasked with making an apple cake in the signature challenge before tackling a "s'more-ish" bake in the technical round. For their showstopper, they'll need to create a Halloween piñata, which Channel 4 have teased will need to be "perfect for any spooky celebration".
You can catch up on the series so far over on All 4.
