The Tennessee Titans hosted the San Francisco 49ers in the first preseason game of 2024 this past Saturday. The victory was nice, but what is perhaps even better is what we saw from the Titans on the field. It was the first time fans got to see what the team looked like with its new additions, and the result provided hope.
Sure, in preseason games, we don’t get to see the star players for very long because teams already know they’re sticking around. Administrations need to see which bubble players they will keep and which ones to trade or release. But for a quarter of the game, we got a sneak peek at what the Titans will look like in 2024.
According to CBS Sports, we learned something very valuable about the Titans in that game.
“Will Levis’ supporting cast is, in fact, improved. It’s hard to say otherwise after both Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears found running room behind an upgraded offensive line, while new No. 1 wideout Calvin Ridley flashed his trademark burst on an early catch-and-run from Levis.”
The players mentioned didn’t play a lot during the game, but they showed us enough. Levis is more comfortable in the pocket, Pollard and Spears will be a dynamic duo, and the receiving corps is exactly what the Titans hoped it would be.
Now we wait and see how it translates on the field when the regular season starts in a couple of weeks.
