UK health officials are monitoring a new Covid-19 strain, nicknamed 'stealth Omicron' that appears to be more contagious than the original Omicron strain.
Early data suggests that BA.2, a sub-variant believed to have emerged from a mutation of the Omicron coronavirus variant, may be both more transmissible and better able to evade vaccines than the more common BA.1 sub-lineage.
However, it is important to state that health experts have said there is currently no evidence that this variant causes more disease.
