What transfer deals Brentford could do before January window closes

Decisions to be made: Keith Andrews - (Owen Humphreys/PA Wire)

Brentford are set for a quiet end to what has been a quiet January transfer window.

But the Bees could still do some business.

Here, Standard Sport assesses what deals could be done before the deadline on February 2.

What has already been done

Brentford do not typically do much business in January, and Keith Andrews will be happy with his squad after a strong first half of the season.

The Bees have signed long-term target Kaye Furo from Club Brugge, though, with the 18-year-old joining the first-team squad.

Midfielder Vitaly Janelt has also committed his long-term future to the club.

What else they need

There is a question of whether they need to upgrade in midfield, with Mathias Jensen and Janelt having been with the club since promotion from the Championship.

Now or in the summer?

Brentford do not need to enter the market now.

The Bees have made a habit of signing players on loan with an option to buy in the summer, as they did with Michael Kayode and Kevin Schade.

For now, though, it feels like they are happy to wait.

Possible ins and outs

Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka is up for sale and is attracting interest from Sheffield United, Coventry and others.

Onyeka wants to leave in search of playing time, but Andrews wants to keep hold of Kristoffer Ajer.

There has also been interest in Kayode and striker Igor Thiago, who has scored 16 Premier League goals this season.

However, when asked about Thiago, Andrews emphatically stated he was not for sale.

Ellery Balcombe, Julian Eyestone, Gustavo Nunes or Paris Maghoma can leave on loan.
