What Tottenham stars are doing for Newcastle vs Arsenal as Harry Kane asks Antonio Conte to stay

Tottenham supporters will be honorary Newcastle fans tonight. Spurs moved above Arsenal into fourth place in the Premier League with a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday lunchtime. And that means it's over to the Gunners in the race for the Champions League.

The battle for fourth place is going right down to the wire, regardless of tonight's result, with Spurs two points ahead of Arsenal, with one game to play, while the Gunners have two left, starting at Newcastle tonight. All Tottenham fans will have an eye on proceedings at St James' Park, hoping for the Magpies to pick up anything from the clash.

Harry Kane grabbed the only goal of the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, little more than 48 hours after Spurs' massive North London Derby win over Arsenal. It came from a controversial penalty, with Ashley Barnes' outstretched arm in the box struck with referee Kevin Friend pointing to the spot after a VAR review.

And the Spurs striker admitted after the game there were no plans for the players to get together and watch the Monday Night Football together. He said: "No [we're not all going to sit down and watch it together], it's been a long week, so people will be spending time with family and there's still another game. We've done our job and we'll focus on Norwich now and see what happens.

"We're off tomorrow so I'll probably play a bit of golf in the morning, spend some time with the family and then think about the game, what time's the game? 8 o'clock? I'll then sit down and watch it and hope for a Newcastle win. The manager's ideas are getting into us now, we've still got work to do of course but when we look at where we wee to where we are now we can be proud of that, but we've got one final push now against Norwich and see where we end up."

Kane admitted that the win over Burnley would have been one Spurs would not have picked up all three points in in the past, with Antonio Conte having a huge impact on how Spurs grind out results when they need to. Spurs have conceded just five goals in their last 10 Premier League games to push for that final Champions League spot.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Conte's future in N17, with the Italian never keen to commit to the club unless his high ambitions are met by the club he's at. But it's fair to say the players want him to stay, with Kane supporting what Eric Dier said in the aftermath of the match.

Kane said: "There's still a lot of work to do, improvement has definitely been there from when the gaffer came in to where we are now in a short period, it has showed it can be done, so we'll see what happens over the summer and look forward to next season with a great manager and hopefully we've learnt a lot from his time here.

"I have no idea [about Conte's future], it's his decision, he's worked extremely hard in the time he's been here, he's a great guy, an extremely passionate man and whatever his decision is you have to respect it, but for sure I'm enjoying it, I know the boys are enjoying working with him. I've said I'm a big fan of his, we get on really well and it would be great for the club if he stays, but it's his decision, I'm sure he'll talk to the club and decide his future, but we're all enjoying working with him."
