While the majority of Chelsea fans were processing the decision to sack their Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel, Todd Boehly was already on the phone plotting his next moves. Tuchel was sacked by the Blues on September 7, with Brighton manager Graham Potter announced as his successor just two days later.
It has been blatantly been lost in the Chelsea maze that Potter did not lose any of his opening nine games as Blues boss, with six wins and three draws, before an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to his old employers prevented a ten-game unbeaten streak.
Since the loss to Brighton, Potter has come under significant fire following many in-game tactical tweaks, seemingly unnecessary positional changes along with the Blues' lack of attacking vigour.

A Champions League victory against Dinamo Zagreb somewhat glosses over the fact Chelsea have lost their last three Premier League games and the Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City sandwiched between drab defeats to Newcastle and Arsenal, makes it no goals in their last three outings.
However, Chelsea are set to back Graham Potter despite the poor run of form and why the early support following some heavy criticism has been shown towards the 47-year-old may have been revealed.
Brighton CEO Paul Barber has pulled back the curtain slightly on how the departure of Potter from the Seagulls came about which includes a very clear idea of Boehly's plans once he had sacked Tuchel.
Speaking on the Albian Roar podcast, Barber said: “When Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel, literally within minutes of Tuchel being told, Todd Boehly called me and asked about Graham Potter.
“I guess I was probably the first to know outside of Chelsea that Thomas Tuchel had been dismissed and it was certainly before it was public knowledge.
“In that situation you see the name come up on the phone, it's early in the morning, you think, 'This isn't a good call to get early in the morning', it certainly wasn't the alarm call I was expecting.”
Judging by Boehly's decisiveness to immediately enquire about Potter before Tuchel's sacking was public knowledge, the 49-year-old is unlikely to be making any hasty decisions about the future of Potter, as judging by Barber's comments on the situation, he was the American's number one Tuchel replacement.
