What to know from Indianapolis Colts first Week 8 injury report

The Indianapolis Colts returned to the practice field on Wednesday for their first practice in preparation of their Week 8 matchup with Houston.

Following practice, the team released its first injury report of the week. Let’s take a look at what you need to know:

– Some good news is that both DeForest Buckner and Jonathan Taylor returned to the practice field. Both were limited participants, which shouldn’t be unexpected in their first practice back after missing time. How each player progresses over the next few days will be important when it comes to Buckner and Taylor’s potential availability on Sunday.

– Of course, things can change, but for what it’s worth, Kelly, Pittman, Smith, and Downs missing practice on Wednesday has been a part of the process for each of these players in recent weeks. We will wait and see what Thursday and Friday holds for each player.

– EJ Speed, Ashton Dulin, and Cam McGrone–who was designated to return from IR–were all full participants. Again, things can change but this is a good sign for all three players in terms of their potential availability. The one caveat is that with McGrone, the Colts have 21 days to activate him and add him to the 53-man roster. So considering this was his first practice back since suffering the elbow injury in August, we will have to see what timeline the team has him on.

– On Monday, head coach Shane Steichen said that Jaylon Carlies would “miss some time.”

– Chris Lammons did not practice at all last week and did not play in Sunday’s game either. Genard Avery is a new addition to the injury report. When the Colts have been healthy at defensive end, he has been inactive on gamedays.
