Trial begins for officer accused of failing to protect children during Uvalde school shooting

A former Uvalde schools officer, Adrian Gonzales, is due to stand trial on Monday, facing 29 counts of child abandonment or endangerment.

He was among the first police officers to respond to the 2022 school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, where authorities notoriously delayed confronting the gunman for over an hour.
