What to expect from Karen's Diner pop-up with rude staff and bad service in Newcastle

Rude staff and terrible service are on the menu of a Newcastle pop-up event that has seen Geordie diners rushing to snap up tickets.

Karen's Diner is a restaurant like no other as it actually encourages staff to go out of their way to be insulting to customers. But those brave enough to have a meal there are promised an entertaining dining experience they'll never forget.

The Australian chain has been a hit around the world for its straight-talking approach and now it is set to hold a series of pop-up events in Newcastle this February as part of a UK tour.

The 'Karen's On Tour' events will take place at Bohemia on Collingwood Street on Saturday, February 4, and Sunday, February 5, with a number of sessions available to book throughout the weekend.

Despite Karen's Diner bosses warning diners that it's definitely not one for the faint-hearted, people in Newcastle have rushed to buy tickets since they went on sale last month. Three of the Saturday sessions have already sold out, according to the booking site Explore Hidden.

A Karen's Diner spokesman told ChronicleLive: "It seems the North East has been itching for a diner with c*** service. So here we come.

"You guys wanting a rude experience need to move your a**** fast as Karen doesn’t wait for slackers. There are a few seats left and one or two right but hey not many!

"I’d like to say we’re excited but we’re not. The lucky people with tickets have only one thing to worry about and that’s how to survive in Karen’s!"

Featuring bottomless pizza, bottomless prosecco and games, Karen's Diner bosses say that customers will be "greeted and waited upon by rude waiters who in return are expecting you to give it full Karen."

A statement on the Karen's Diner booking page said: "You can expect good food, good fun and a dining experience like you've never had before. Let us know if it's your birthday, if your name is Karen, and for the love of Karen don't ask to speak to the manager."
