The world's most famous horse race is just a few hours away.
Crowds are flocking to Aintree for the 2022 Grand National, worth a cool £1million in total prize money. The 40 runners and riders line up with the aim of completing the four-and-a-quarter mile course, with 30 jumps along the way.
With all of them made of spruce, it is the unique contest of National Hunt racing run in Britain. In 2020 the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and racegoers return for the first time since 2019.
The rules meant there was no crowd in attendance to watch Rachael Blackmore gain a historic victory on Minella Times, who is favourite to double up this year. Blackmore, who has since added many more accolades to her record including the 2021 Gold Cup, was the first female rider to take the National trophy.

What time is the 2022 Grand National?
The Randox Grand National is scheduled to begin at 5.15pm on Saturday, April 9, at Aintree Racecourse. The Grand National Festival began on Thursday.
What TV channel is the 2022 Grand National on?
The racing will be broadcast live on ITV with coverage starting at 2pm and running until 6.15pm. Francesca Cumani and Ed Chamberlin will present the coverage. The other races that will be shown are the 2.25, 3.00, 3.35 and 4.15, plus the main event at 5.15pm. Racing TV, a subscription channel, are also showing the sporting action.

Aintree is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside. It is around five miles from Liverpool city centre.
