The stars of our favourite soaps are set to be celebrated as the British Soap Awards returns to screens. The casts of Hollyoaks, Doctors, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders dressed up to the nines and headed to The Lowry theatre at Salford Quays on Saturday night for the glitzy awards bash.
Recorded in front of a live audience, the soap stars took their seats in the auditorium as they wanted to see if they or their cast members had been successful in the 14 different categories before taking to the stage and collecting their silver shining gong.
The awards ceremony was presented by singer and TV favourite Jane McDonald. She was drafted in at the last minute after Phillip Schofield pulled out of all ITV commitments following his affair confession.
