What time is Nicola Sturgeon's covid update and what she is expected to announce

Nicola Sturgeon will address the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday to issue an urgent coronavirus update.

The First Minister will provide a statement on the pandemic for the first time in a few weeks as she informs MSPs on the latest figures and rule changes.

In recent months, the FM has used the statements to announce harsher restrictions and measures to beat the virus as the country has moved through different waves.

Speaking from the chamber, the FM is expected to give one of her most important updates since the pandemic began, with information on how the country will move out of the pandemic.

What will Nicola Sturgeon announce?

Sturgeon is reported to be confirming the end of all Covid rules and restrictions in Scotland from March 21.

The move would see measures still in place such as face coverings scrapped, bringing the country in line with the zero measures currently enforced in England.

However, the FM is also expected to address the sudden spike in cases and hospitalisations over the last couple of weeks, with both rates seeing sharp inclines.

Ahead of the statement Sir Gregor Smith, the chief medical officer, urged a "cautious approach" on the pandemic going forward.

What time will Nicola Sturgeon speak and how can I watch?

The First Minister is planning on giving a statement in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday (March 15.)

If all parliamentary proceedings run on time, Sturgeon will begin her statement at around 2.20pm.

The speech is expected to last for around 20 minutes, before the chamber will be opened to MSPs who wish to ask further questions.
