Graham Potter is the strong favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea's new head coach. Brighton has given Chelsea the green light to hold talks over appointing Potter as the new manager and football.london understands that the highly-rated English coach is the frontrunner for the vacancy, along with Mauricio Pochettino.
Potter has now developed a reputation for being England's best coach during his time at Brighton. The Seagulls currently sit fourth in the Premier League, having lost just one of their opening six matches.
During his three years in Sussex, Brighton have beaten Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United - but they've never got the better of Chelsea. In his six games up against the Blues, four have ended in draws, with Chelsea winning the other two.
However, Tuchel spoke in glowing terms about Potter and his style of football before Chelsea's clash against Brighton last December.
"They have a great coach, and it's a great approach they have to how they play the game," Tuchel told the club website.
It is clear when you switch on the TV or when you watch them, you clearly see an idea of how they want to play. It's very, very demanding to play against them.
"They play with a lot of confidence. They have many good individual players, they have a top coach in Graham Potter, and they are a tough side to beat.
"It's very demanding to play against them because they play very fluid, they adapt their system to your system, they attack high, and they have a lot of individual quality, and that's why it's a tough one."
