What the Rangers pundits said after Motherwell draw as alarmed Neil McCann shuts down excuses

Rangers threw away a two goal lead to gift Motherwell a precious point at Ibrox which keeps the gap at the top of the Premiership at three points with only ten games remaining.

And former Scotland boss Shelley Kerr believes Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side lacked the energy in the second half to go on and capitalise on their advantage.

Kerr told Rangers TV: "You could see five minutes before the end of the first half, the tempo dropped. I said it at half-time that the game wasn't done.

"Credit to Motherwell. The triple change worked I think, especially in the wide areas.

"They had pace for when they won the ball back and in particular Woolery, he was a threat in that second half.

"Rangers dominated the first half as we spoke about at half-time but they just lacked that bit of energy, especially in the wide areas as well where they were successful in the first half.

"That didn't happen in the second half at all."

While Neil McCann, who played for Rangers between 1998 and 2003, believes Rangers dropping more points after the high of their Europa League triumph over Borussia Dortmund is a sore one.

He said: "That's deflating for Rangers. That's sore because they were so far ahead in the first half. So comfortable.

"I suppose that's always the danger the game wasn't done at half-time. It wasn't the time to be make substitutions.

"It was only when we thought Rangers might have got a third goal and a right good cushion, they could've freshened it up but they were never allowed to do so.

"I think the goals are concerning. I know there's a couple of contentious decisions for Morelos today. My gut feeling was that both were offside but nonetheless, you shouldn't be throwing away a two goal lead when you are that comfortable no matter what substitutions come on."
