What Sir Kenny Dalglish said to Jurgen Klopp in tunnel after Liverpool beat Chelsea

Sir Kenny Dalglish and Jurgen Klopp shared a warm embrace in the Wembley tunnel following Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea.

Dalglish, who is currently a Liverpool ambassador, was the last Reds manager to win the League Cup 10 years ago.

The Reds edged past their Premier League rivals on penalties after a goalless encounter at the home of English football.

After 21 successive spot kicks, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was brought on for the shootout, missed his penalty to hand the Reds an 11-10 win.

Arrizabalaga’s penalty miss sparked wild celebrations from Liverpool’s players and staff on the pitch at Wembley.

A total of 49 major trophies have now made their way back to Anfield, with the Reds still fighting on three other fronts this season.

And Dalglish and Klopp shared a moment together as the Liverpool boss headed back to his side’s dressing room from the Wembley pitch.

Klopp could be heard saying 'get in, get in' before the Liverpool boss informed the Anfield great he was the last Reds manager to win the trophy.

And after the two hugged, Dalglish joked: “Your penalties weren’t as good as ours. The first one ended up in the top tier!”

Klopp then replied: “Unbelievable!” before Dalglish responded: “Brilliant, well done!”

Dalglish then tweeted after the game: "What a day! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team score all 11 penalties. Congratulations to Jurgen and the boys!"

While Reds boss Klopp said post-match: "Even in professional football there should be space for some sentiment. Caoimhin Kelleher is a young boy, plays in all the competition, what do I do?

"I am two things, a professional manager and a human being and the human being won. He deserves it.

"At the training centre we have a wall that all goalkeepers are on who won something and Caoimhin can go on it - that's how it should be - absolutely great.

"I am happy for the people to celebrate something like this. Chelsea are incredibly strong, we matched each other. That is the start, we are not silly. We need to have luck - we had luck, that could have been 5-5."
