A surprise summer transfer option for Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window is former Arsenal flop Serge Gnabry.
Sport BILD have claimed that the Blues are interested in a deal for the German wideman, with negotiations over an extended deal with current employers Bayern Munich having reached an impasse.
His current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and should Bayern fail to agree to an extended stay, then it appears likely that they would be forced to cash-in on the 26-year-old sooner rather than later or risk losing him for nothing in just 18 months time.
Whilst there is no doubt that Gnabry would be an excellent addition to Thomas Tuchel’s current options, with the former Arsenal man having developed a reputation as one of the most productive wide players in Europe, he has previously fired a couple of shots at the Blues that could irritate Chelsea fans.
Following a 7-2 Champions League mauling of London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 - a game in which he netted four goals - the German took to Twitter to offer his thoughts over which side are the most dominant in the capital.
He wrote: “North London is RED!!!”
Whilst that is clearly an effort to rattle those of a Spurs persuasion, he then repeated the same trick as he came up against Chelsea barely months later.
Travelling to Stamford Bridge in the last-16, Gnabry netted twice in three second-half minutes, with Robert Lewandowski adding a third late on to secure a dominant victory for the German giants in London.
The winger took to social media yet again - this time with a message to the Blues.

Whether Gnabry’s stance remains the same should he become a Chelsea player remains to be seen but based on the evidence of this season, the Blues are now the dominant side in London.
Thomas Tuchel’s men beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium back in August, whilst they have won each of their last five meetings with Spurs, including three alone this season, in the Premier League and over two legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
