What Sadio Mane sent Liverpool employees as forward says 'thank you' with classy gesture

Sadio Mane may well have moved on from Liverpool, but it seems the club remains close to his heart regardless.

The Senegalese star spent six years at Anfield and became a key player for Jurgen Klopp, remaining injury-free and scoring important goals on a number of occasions for the team. His £35million departure was confirmed in June, which saw the Reds receive a fixed fee of £27.4m with a further £7.7m in potential add-ons.

Mane has hit the ground running since signing for the Bundesliga giants, scoring on his debut in a Super Cup victory over RB Leipzig and further adding to his account on the opening day of the Bundesliga season away to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bidding farewell to a club he spent his best years at will not have been easy for the 30-year-old, who reportedly watched Liverpool for 'as long as possible' during their Community Shield win over Manchester City last month, having been in action with Bayern later on the same day.

It has now emerged that Mane has gone one step further to show his respect for the Reds by sending 150 individual gift packages to staff members at Liverpool, made up of chocolates, a portrait of himself and an enclosed thank you message.

Whether or not the talented forward will cross paths with his former club this season remains to be seen, though he is likely to receive a warm reception from Liverpool supporters should a head-to-head with Bayern become a reality.
