What’s the latest update on free agent RB Dalvin Cook?

Dalvin Cook has received multiple offers from teams seeking to upgrade their running back rooms, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said during an interview on The Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday. Pelissero did not specify which teams have made an offer.

Other reports have indicated that the Miami Dolphins are the only known team with an offer on the table.

It’s unclear if the Denver Broncos are among the teams who have officially made an offer, but Pelissero mentioned them among the teams to watch. Pelissero does not seem to view Denver as a favorite, though.

“Do they have the money to be in the neighborhood of what Cook’s going to demand market?” Pelissero said. “It’s hard to imagine [given] what they’ve invested at that position and elsewhere. They really did push to make some other things happen in terms of solidifying that offensive line.”

It’s also worth noting that Cook has said he wants to sign with a contender. While there’s hope that coach Sean Payton will turn things around quickly, Denver won’t be considered a real contender until the team proves it on the field.

Cook, 27, was released by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this month. He was set to have an $11 million base salary before his release and the running back might be seeking a similar contract from his next team.

Broncos general manager George Paton was part of the Vikings’ front office that drafted Cook in 2017, but there are conflicting reports on whether or not Denver plans to pursue the running back.

For now, we wait.
