What's the best shark movie of all time (that isn't 'Jaws')?

L-R: A collage of stills featuring Blake Lively in the water in a scene from "The Shallows," the key art for "Sharknado," and Jason Statham in a scene from "The Meg".

If you haven't been paying much attention to Netflix over the last few days, you might have missed that one of the best streaming services on the market just released a brand new shark movie — "Thrash," starring "Bridgerton" star, Phoebe Dynevor — and since it dropped on April 10, it's remained at the top of Netflix's most-watched movie chart.

Given "Thrash" is grabbing attention and we've seen plenty of shark-centric thrillers hit the big screen over the years, I wanted to try to figure out which shark movie Tom's Guide readers love the most. There's just one catch, though: We're not including "Jaws."

To be crystal clear, this is not because I'm arguing "Jaws" is a bad movie. Rather, I'm excluding Steven Spielberg's ever-iconic creature feature simply because "Jaws" would obviously come out on top. Thus, I figure excluding it from the conversation keeps things just a little more interesting.

So, just like when we recently asked you to choose your favorite new movie of 2026 so far, it's over to you. Below, you can find a selection of what I think are 10 of the most noteworthy shark movies in recent memory (again, aside from "Jaws"), and we want you to tell us which one comes out on top. Oh, and spoilers: "Thrash" isn't in the running, and if you've read my review, you'll know why.

We don't just want you to vote, either: Don't forget to leave a comment below telling us which shark movie you've voted for, and why.

Whether you prefer the silliness and all-out chaos of something like "Sharknado" or "The Meg," or something more suspenseful like "The Shallows," we want to hear what your favorite is!

Similarly, you'll note there's also a spot on the poll to vote for "something else," because I figured there's always a chance someone is a die-hard fan of another shark movie entirely.

If I've missed your shark movie of choice, you have a problem with one of my picks —don't even try to question the animated DreamWorks classic that is "Shark Tale" — be sure to let us know in the comments.
