What’s coming to Game Pass in November 2022? Ghost Song, Football Manager 2023 and more

Ghost Song, Football Manager, and Legend of Tianding are all coming this month

(Picture: PA Archive)

Xbox Game Pass is one of the best-value offerings in gaming. Starting at £7.99 a month, players can access a library of hundreds of rotating games, free to download to their Xbox Series or One console. If you pay for Game Pass Ultimate, you get a whole bunch of EA games and PC titles, too.

Xbox Game Pass titles include high-profile titles, including every Microsoft Studios and Bethesda title as they become available: think Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Gears of War, Fable, and so on.

So what’s coming to Game Pass in November? So far, it’s a bit of a quiet month, but we expect more titles to be announced soon, and we will update this piece as and when they are.

If you’re looking for something else, be sure to check out the Xbox Game Pass highlights for October 2022, too.

Xbox Game Pass highlights for November 2022

The Legend of Tianding

Legend of Tianding (Neon Doctrine)

If you like your 2D brawlers, the Legend of Tianding looks like it will be right up your alley. Set in Taiwan in 1909, the game has you battling waves of enemies on beautifully drawn backdrops using a combination of martial arts, heavy-duty weapons, and your God-given agility.

While this is a new game on consoles, the Legend of Tianding has been out on PC for a year and has attracted much critical acclaim. Not only does the PC version have a score of 80 per cent on Metacritic, but nearly 2,000 player reviews on Steam have delivered an “overwhelmingly positive” verdict. For free, it’s got to be worth a try.

Ghost Song

Ghost Song (Old Moon)

This one has been a long time coming. Originally funded via a Kickstarter campaign with a projected release date of May 2014, Ghost Song finally gets its big release day on November 3 and is free to download via Game Pass (which might irritate those who backed it nine years ago, before Game Pass even existed, but there we are.)

It’s a sidescrolling Metrovania-style adventure that promises “an atmospheric 2D adventure of self-discovery, ancient mysteries, and cosmic terror”. Early impressions are very strong indeed, with an average score of 86 per cent on Metacritic, and one review describing it as “the perfect mix of Metroid and Hollow Knight”, High praise indeed.

Football Manager 2023

Football Manager 2023 (Sports Interactive)

Its critics would call it a glorified spreadsheet-management game. Still, anybody who has ever wasted entire evenings fretting about their virtual squad’s form will know that the Football Manager series offers the kind of highs and lows that few games can equal.

Football Manager 2023 promises a solid set of improvements, including new licences, a squad planner — letting you roadtest transfer targets on your tactics screen — and a whole new Supporter Confidence area that will break down exactly what each section of the fanbase expects in order to stay on side.

The downside is that the arrival of a new version means that Football Manager 2022 is leaving Game Pass on November 8. So, if you have become attached to your existing squad, you will have to pay up to keep playing…

Game Pass vs Game Pass Ultimate: What’s the difference?

There are three tiers of Game Pass available. These are Game Pass for console or PC, which are £7.99 a month each, or Game Pass Ultimate for £10.99.

As the name and price suggests, Game Pass Ultimate is the best of the bunch, offering both PC and console games. It also bundles Xbox Gold for online multiplayer access on console and cloud gaming, where certain titles can be streamed to any device with a web browser, from your phone to your laptop.

Game Pass Ultimate and the PC version also include access to EA Play, which provides a whole library of extra games from Electronic Arts, a studio known for everything from the FIFA and Madden sports series to Apex Legends and Mass Effect.

In short, Game Pass Ultimate offers a lot more value for an extra £3 and is well worth it if you play across formats, compete online on Xbox, or like your EA titles. Paying for Gold and EA Play separately would cost an additional £10.98 a month, and you wouldn’t get cloud streaming.
