It's an open secret that Manchester United are in need of a new centre-forward in the summer transfer window.
Erik ten Hag has targeted the position in order to add the firepower needed to push his side onto the next level. He has been described as being 'obsessed' with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, although the club are working under the assumption Spurs will not sell to a Premier League rival.
That may force the Reds to look elsewhere, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Benfica's Goncalo Ramos, Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani, Ajax's Mohammed Kudus and Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund all being monitored as potential alternatives. However, with Anthony Martial's injury struggles this season the club could yet look to bring in one forward for the here-and-now as well as signing another young talent for the future.
Denmark international Hojlund certainly fits into the latter bracket. The forward netted nine Serie A goals in 32 appearances for Atalanta this season to pique the interest of several top clubs.

Hojlund also sensationally announced himself on the international scene by hitting a hat-trick and then a brace in March's international double-header against Finland and Kazakhstan. He has now returned for international duty this week, alongside United midfielder Christian Eriksen, where he will no doubt be hoping to recapture his performances from earlier in the year.
While back in his home country, Hojlund has been asked on how he feels to be linked with a summer move to United after the Manchester Evening News revealed he has already held video calls with Erik ten Hag. The striker was understandably coy about those calls, but admitted he is flattered to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
"There has been no video call," Hojlund told Danish outlet Berlingske. "I can't say anything about that.
"It's a huge club, so I must have done something right if it says they want me. My goal is to reach the top shelf, and you can say that Manchester United is. So it will be huge."
It follows comments from the Danish striker in January where he revealed he is in fact a big Manchester United fan. "Now that you ask, I won't hide the fact that I'm a huge Manchester United fan," he told Danish news outlet Ekstra Bladet in January. "So personally, it'd be one of the biggest things for me. Of course that doesn't mean that I'd turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point."
Certainly, it appears that should Hojlund secure his dream move to United this summer, supporters won't be the only ones getting excited.
