It's not very often England score six goals and Harry Kane is not on the scoresheet. That was the case on Monday afternoon as the Three Lions started their World Cup campaign with a resounding 6-2 win over Iran.
Iran's two late strikes may have taken a bit of the gloss off the victory but Gareth Southgate can be very pleased with their start to the tournament. One of the favourites to win the Golden Boot after his triumph in Russia four years ago, chances were at a premium for Kane in his 76 minutes on the pitch.
He did, however, show another side of his game that Tottenham fans know about all too well. Perhaps maybe not known or fully appreciated for his incredible vision and range of passing outside of N17, it was on full show at the Khalifa International Stadium.
