Arsenal's summer transfer window looks set to be yet another big one as the side look to close the gap to Manchester City going into next season. With Champions League football returning to the Emirates Stadium, the desire to build the squad to the next level will be there.
That has led to links with plenty of big players, including the likes of Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Mason Mount as options. However, the latest name in the frame may be a slight shock as 90Min reports that Manchester City star Joao Cancelo is a target for the Gunners.
The Portuguese full-back appears to have fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium, despite previously being one of the first names on the teamsheet. His ability to play the role as an inverted full-back with quality has been clear, while his versatility to play both flanks adds another layer to his game.

For Mikel Arteta, it could be the next evolution of his side in adding someone of such quality to the squad in the summer window. It remains to be seen whether Pep Guardiola would sanction a move to his rivals though, having made the same mistake with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus last summer.
Any talk over Cancelo has often been mooted from the Spanish coach though, refusing to discuss the situation until the summer. Speaking in March, he said: "Joao [Cancelo] is a player for Bayern Munich I don’t have any comments. He’s at Bayern Munich, at the end of the season we will review all the cases of players."
The pair then met again in the Champions League last month, where Guardiola added: "Cancelo has always been so appreciated here. We can’t forget what he did here. He has been, and maybe will be, but has been such an important player for us.”
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the defender beyond the summer, but will it be in the red of Arsenal or will it be elsewhere?
