What Nottingham Forest 'gave' Chelsea before Steve Cooper intervention

Nottingham Forest captain Ryan Yates revealed Steve Cooper's half-time talk helped the side rescue a vital point against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Graham Potter's side scored the opening goal through Raheem Sterling, which proved to be the difference between the teams at the break. An improved Reds then caused problems in the second half, and were rewarded with an equaliser.

After Morgan Gibbs-White struck the woodwork, Serge Aurier bagged his first league goal for Forest when Wily Boly kept alive a corner.

Speaking to Sky Sports Sport post-match, Yates revealed what Cooper requested from his team during the break. "He just said 'believe in yourselves more' - the first 20 minutes we were too passive we gave them way too much respect.

"We were a goal behind and we needed to give the fans something to get out of their seats for. We were quite tired towards the end we put so much into that first 60 minutes but we're pleased.

"We still need to be better we're not happy with always drawing games at home but it's a step in the right direction."
