There’s no doubt that the Carolina Panthers will be trying their damnedest to get themselves a franchise passer this offseason. And luckily for them, their brand new quarterbacks coach already has a beat on a potential target.
On Friday night, the Panthers announced they had agreed to terms with Josh McCown to head their quarterback room. The former 16-year NFL veteran will now rejoin the organization he spent two seasons with back in 2008 and 2009.
Unfortunately for Underdog Fantasy’s Josh Norris, however, McCown probably won’t have as much time to continue co-hosting their Scheme podcast. But at least he did leave us with some telling analysis on University of Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud, who may be in play for Carolina’s first-round pick this spring.
What newly appointed Carolina QB Coach Josh McCown thinks of C.J. Stroud.

Stroud, a Heisman Trophy finalist in both 2021 and 2022, is widely considered as one of the top two quarterback prospects in the upcoming class. And if he’s really the apple of Carolina’s eye, they’re likely going to have to move up from that ninth overall spot to get him.
So it’ll be up to the Panthers’ braintrust, which now includes the film buff in McCown, to decide if Stroud is worth what’ll be a hefty investment.
