A series of new laws passed this week will have a major impact across a range of areas. Everything from how you vote to animal cruelty was under the spotlight in a push to pass as many laws as possible before parliament is temporarily suspended.
Under the new laws given Royal Assent this week voters will be asked for ID at polling stations while police will gain more powers to crack down on protests. Other areas under the spotlight included rising the legal age for marriage and improvements for building safety, reports Walesonline.
Many of those to get approval came from heavily contested proposals which have been long-debated. Controversial Bills including the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act and the Nationality and Borders Act have been discussed during the last year.
