Chelsea progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a game to spare on Tuesday evening as they defeated a spirited RB Salzburg 2-1 in Austria.
Goals from Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz handed Graham Potter his sixth victory in charge, making him the first Blues manager to go unbeaten in his opening four Champions League games since Roberto Di Matteo. Confirmation of Chelsea topping the group will come should AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb draw in Croatia.
The Blues put in one of the most impressive performances under Potter in the first 45 minutes against Salzburg but they could only manage the single goal. Kovacic's left-footed strike from the edge of the penalty area caught Philipp Kohn flat-footed.

The Austrian champions did manage to pull themselves level shortly after half-time when Junior Adamu completed a brilliant Salzburg team goal. Chelsea continued to dominate and grabbed the vital three points when Havertz saw his effort fly into the top corner.
Havertz's goal received praise from former Premier League striker Gary Lineker and the BT Sports cameras showed how Mason Mount and Potter reacted to the German's stunner. The Chelsea boss is seen walking towards Mount as the midfielder chuckles before the pair share a joke.
