Martin Odegaard will face off against Norway teammate Erling Haaland next season, following the announcement of his move to Manchester City. The 21-year-old will officially join on July 1, subject to completion of the deal, and will further bolster Pep Guardiola's attacking prowess heading into next season.
Haaland's rise to stardom via his exploits for the Bundesliga side has set mouths watering about what can be achieved here in England after he set countless goalscoring records in Germany.
But with Odegaard having the inside track on City's new super signing after spending time with him on international duty, the Arsenal midfielder has revealed he previously made a cheeky attempt to try and convince the former Salzburg man to come to the Emirates.

''We will see what he will do. I don’t know. But, if he is coming to England, he needs to come to us of course. No, I don’t know what he will do but he is a great guy," said Odegaard back in April. ''To be honest we haven’t talked too much about it. I know he has so many people trying to ask him and to tell him what to do and I don’t want to do that. So, we will have to wait and see."
When asked whether Haaland would also suit the physicality of the Premier League, give his large height and frame, the Gunners midfielder said: "He's a beast. He is strong, he is fast, and I think he has everything. So, I think he can play in every league, in every country to be honest.''
Set to earn a whopping £400,000 per week at City, Haaland will be expected to hit the ground running, with some suggesting Guardiola may finally have the missing piece to his puzzle.
